Knee we say more: the Canucks goaltender situation is even worse than this pun
With Dan “From Centre Ice” Cloutier out for the rest of the season having knee surgery, the Canucks are searching for a new starting netminder since nobody seems to trust Alex Auld at all. So the hunt is on for a top class NHL netminder who could be pried away from on of the Canucks’ rivals.
The Canadian Press were playing the “name every goalie in the NHL as a possible Canuck” game in a recent article on TSN.ca. The fact is of the likely contenders it’s most probable that we’ll see either Roberto Luongo escape Florida to the warmth of Vancouver or Patrick Lalime whose currently relegated to minor league duties as part of the implosion of the St. Louis Blues.
Personally I’m pulling for former Montreal Canadiens netminder and current Liberal Member of Parliment for Toronto Ken Dryden to lace up the pads again. The netminding hero of the 1972 Canada - Soviet Series might be a bit long in the tooth now, but it’s not like the Canucks have had a goalie we can rely on since Kirk McLean left.
