standard vancouverite response to sun

you know how you can tell a vancouverite has fully converted into someone at ease with their environment?
someone how isn’t going to have a problem with week after week of rain?
someone who is aware that sun in the winter is not necessarily to be expected but to be treasured when it does come?

these are the people that you see around town, who when they come out from the shadow of a building or the sun comes out from behind a cloud to bathe them suddenly in sunlight, they stop and turn their face up to the sun, their eyes closed and just suck it in. much like a daisy grows towards where the sun reaches them the best.

or maybe that’s just me.
i did it a number of times yesterday though.
maybe i’m just a vancouver-odd.
