Holiday Radness

I saw two things that were particularly rad while finishing up my shopping today. I apologize for not having pictures but you’ll have to use your imagination.

The first rad thing was a boy, who couldn’t have been more than 7 or 8 years old, playing the piano at Oakridge Centre. He was unbelievable. He was playing what sounded like a mash up of a bunch of different classical pieces. I thought it was recorded music until I rounded the corner and saw this little guy seated at the grand with his head down going like mad. There were about 50 people sitting in a small row of bleachers around him. It makes me wish I had taken piano lessons as a kid.

The second rad thing was the twenty-something sales guy at Underworld on Granville. He grew a full beard and temp-colored it gray. Add a santa had and you have an awesome semi-permanent santa costume. The skinny skater santa frightened at least two youngsters during the 20 minutes I was in the store. Anyone who has the guts to do themselves up like that deserves kudos. Huzzah for the shopkeep (obscure Simpsons reference).

Happy Chrismahanukwazakah everyone!

I was that kid when I was small. My dad would make me awe passersby in malls with my virtuoso playing – I was terrible but that was my dad’s way of making me practice. You know, something like “if you don’t practice, you’ll make a fool out of yourself the next time I make you play in malls.”
