Quick Flick Challenge
While my coworkers and I were trying to decide whether or not to join the Tri-Pod Film Co-Op’s Quick Flick Challenge (make a film in 48 hours), we watched last year’s winning film, Cowboy, “a romantic comedy involving bubble-wrap and an elevator.”
We quickly were disappointed with our collective skills, but the one of the event’s organizers, ArtsConnect’s Helen Daniels, pointed out that Cowboy’s director is none other than Kryshan Randel, co-producer of the 24-HourFilm Contest. He’s directed over 30 films! So he has experience and we don’t. Our zombie comedy idea still rocks. We’ve got a storyboard already and lots of museum artefacts and a Japanese digital video camera we can use.
We’ve probably just about given up on the 48-hour festival, though there’s nothing to stop us from making our own film just for the heck of it. Then we can take our sweet time.
If anyone wants to join the Quick Flick Challenge, you’ve got until tomorrow to register at the $100 fee (less if you can prove you’re a high school student), then the registration goes up to $120 until the deadline on January 13. You need a team of five; Helen has some no-teamers whom she can assign to your fledging team (including a writer). The marathon starts January 27 at 7 PM.
If anyone wants to help three eccentric museum employees make a zombie comedy, then leave a comment here. (Also, if you can read a Japanese digital video camera manual, we’d love you even more.)
