Matthew Good does my election research for me, Hedy Fry decieves the internet and I watch The Office

Since apparently I live in the same federal riding as Matthew Good [mg] I am happy to see that he is repeating his 2004 survey to all candidates for MP in his riding. Typically I’d consider going to an all cadidates debate tomorrow at 1pm at the West End Community Centre but over the past few years my interest in federal politics has sort of been drained from my body and soul like juice from an orange.

Blame it on living in Kelowna for so many years when every election was a race to see how quickly our ancient Reform/Alliance/Convervative MP could get elected. Maybe blame it on the total lack of quality candidates or leaders in this campaign. Maybe blame it on the fact that watching NBC’s The Office is just so much more interesting that whether the Liberals will win with a slim minority or a slim majority.

I would like to point out that Hedy Fry’s website [hf] does contain a very misleading quote from U2’s Bono. The quote, “Wow. A politician who dosen’t break his promises. This is real leadership. I hope Canadians know what this means to the rest of the world.”, seems impressive until you realize that came before Martin broke his promise on African aid [ctv][ctv] [ehm] causing Bono and Bob Geldof to publically try to shame him into actually paying what he promised.

Bono even used U2’s Vancouver shows to publically call on Martin to keep his promises, which Martin has yet to do. So maybe it’s time for the Liberals to stop riding on Bono’s fame and start either keeping their foreign aid promises or shut up about how Bono once liked them.
