Metroblogging Canada
Vancouver, that’s us, is the newest site in Metroblogging’s Canadian empire. It makes sense that they expanded here, given that after Toronto [mbt] and Montreal [mbm] we’re the most awesome city in the nation. In fact let’s reivise that because Toronto just thinks it’s awesome, it’s what they say in Calgary “big hat no cattle.” Montreal is just lovely.
The question now is what Canadian city is going to be the ones to launch the next Metroblogging site? You might say that smart money is on Calgary because that’s where the oil money is and business is booming. But I’d say that Winnipeg has a change since there’s already a small campaign underway in that city to bring bloggers in on a Metroblogging site [agl].
This makes sense, given that Winnipeg has become something of a literary capital of Canada. Aside from the Weakerthans being from the city, you’ve also got CanWest and the Asper family based there along side a good number of magazines that use the city as a publication base both for western Canada and for the whole nation. Also there’s some rad indie magazines that have been published out of that city as well [bp].
So if you’re in a Canadian city and want to see if you can your own Metroblogging site started, get in touch with the fine people at our home office in sunny LA by droppinig them a line [mb]. If you’re in Vancouver and want to join up then you can drop them a line as well, we’re always looking for new blood… I mean talent.

I’d love to see one in Halifax. I’d even sign up and post a flurry of posts every few months after being there. =P
I hope a lot of people sign up for Winnipeg Metroblogs. XD
