canadian patriotism, american style
i don’t have TV so i don’t watch the olympics but i’ve always kinda liked them. so i read about them online.
for the most part, i will confess, on CBC’s site, which might very well be considered the best (says jeffery and i agree although i’m sure my survey has been much smaller).
today i had the thrill of the games for me.
i checked in, for the second time today, and we’d won gold and silver in the stupidest sport known to man. ok, not stupid so much as requiring the stupidest particpants. i mean, come on, it’s called a skeleton because that’s how sturdy it is. it goes over 100 kms/hour. dumb dumb dumb.
but that’s not my point. we won those two medals and didn’t fall down enough to win a bronze as well.
for a brief moment in time, we are ahead of the US in the standings.
in fact, in pure medal count, we’re tied for number 2. and this isn’t day 1 of the olympics, this is day 8 or 9 or something.
brilliant. so very brilliant.
i’m thrilled that canada is doing well.
by dominating the other countries around it (see, that’s the american style).
it’ll change tomorrow cause the US has way more athletes to throw into the fray, better funded and etc. but for today…
i’m still thrilled.
now i’m going to sit back and wait for jeffery’s post about swedish women playing hockey.
