What we blog about when we’re at home

If you’re a regular reader of Metroblogging Vancouver you’ve probably already discovered that we’re an ecclectic collection of bloggers from across the Vancouver scene and who’ve come together to blog and fight evil kind of like the New Avengers (pictured above). However if you just know us from our secret identities as the spandex clad Metrobloggers you only know half the story.

In our secret identities we keep our own blogs, and sometimes they’re worth reading.

Like Matt Musselman’s recent post about proposing to fellow Metroblogger Oana [omp]. It’s very romantic, especially the bit about the African conflict diamonds which I think was part of the plot of the last James Bond movie. Also an interesting and untrue fact, the young couple first met earlier this month at the Metroblogging Vancouver meetup [mbv]. For her part Oana has a post about her hampster’s battle with sickness and also about downsizing your books collection [mak]. Sadly she has no permanlinks so when you go to her blog these posts may have been lost with time.

Dane Brown, who has a really pretty blue and white site, is selling stuff on on Craigslist and eBay [db] including the Beatles at the BBC and album that came out in 1994. I totally have this album on CD and recomend it for the unique collection of older rock songs covered by the Beatles and my favorite track “I’m a loser”.

Jenny Lee Silver is editing her own book that she wrote for the month there where everyone was supposed to write a book [jls]. My book’s called The Bishop’s Knight and I fight ninjas in it while solving a mystery at a chess tournament. I don’t know what Jenny’s is about but I doubt it includes the sentance, “The throwing stars barely missed me, but luckily as I threw the pawns that I’d grabbed from the chess board my aim was better than that of the assasians of the Green Monkey Ninja Clan.”

Rod Templeton blogs about stuff that’s way too smart for me. Go read it [rt], or Godzilla will stomp you.

Mike Hrycyk is the Millenium Falcon [mh].

Rachael Ashe has some excellent pictures [ra].

Ryan Chu’s page simply says, “Error Journal has been deleted. If you are yo_mtv_raps, you have a period of 30 days to decide to undelete your journal.”

Ryan Cousineau is blogging about China, censorship and “old-guard commies” [rc]. Maybe his novel has something about ninja stars and chess.

Travis Smith’s blog goes sideways. It’s wacky, sort of like that time I played poker in high school and the looser of each hand had to drink a glass of water and since I suck at poker I ended up drinking about a full garbage can full of water and got all kind of wonky. He’s got some photos from the NorthernVoice conference so check those out [ts].

Wynne writes either about a Chinese soap opera or the people who live in her apartment building [w]. I’m not sure which but it sounds steamy either way.

Herbert Cruz is listening to Judy Garland’s singing and think about his children Euna, Zeta, Evelyn and Nicolas and how having four children makes his family wonderful [hc]. Perhaps not as edgy as something about pirates but since he’s a new father again I think we can let it slide.

What what about that Jeffery Simpson character? Oh right, what have I been blogging about? The answer is of course ninjas [jks].

Thanks for writing about everyone, Jeffery!

On those Blogger sites (”Blogger” as in the blogspot.com) like the one I use, the permalink is represented by a #.

Thus the permalink for the hamster thing is http://maktaaq.blogspot.com/2006/02/hamster-tumour-or-abcess.html and my book woes are at http://maktaaq.blogspot.com/2006/02/bibliophilic-anxiety.html.

Thanks again! One of the things I like about writing for this Metroblogging is discovering other Vancouver blogs (and then meeting the faces behind the writing).
