Figs a threat to many animals, claims Metro

“Though figs make up the majority of chimps’ diet, they are omnivorous, killing antelope, bush pigs and smaller monkeys,” claims Road Warrior columnist Julia Dimon in today’s Metro daily.

The surprising statement should serve as an important warning to chimps and many other fig-eating mammals worldwide, who may have underestimated the ferocity of this unassuming brown fruit. Chimpanzee organizations are currently undergoing negotiations to determine whether the newfound fig danger warrants abandoning the popular food source for less threatening fruits and vegetables.

The revelation has come as a shock to several peaceful Ugandan bush pig groups, who attributed their declining numbers primarily to chimps themselves and the occasional human hunter, but had never suspected the lowly fig as their silent predator.

Killer figs? I shall do my part by voraciously consuming any figs I see before the get a chance to strike!

And I’d better keep a close eye on my mother-in-law’s fig tree. Who knows when it might turn on us all….

Before I knew you were pointing out an error, I got SO confused. That’s why I equate reading those free dailies things to junk (harsh, yes) and go slightly guiltily straight towards the Sudoku.

What is “sudoku”. I’ve heard it mentioned here, on the Daily Show and Arrested Development.

Sudoku (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudoku) are the current craze in logic puzzles, which have earned a position next to crossword puzzles in many newspapers and magazines.

I have to admit — they’re pretty addictive.

If you value your free time, best not to experiment with them. :)

Metro and 24 both contain Sudoku. Some of the pay dailies surely do, as well. I have a photo of the Metro’s in the Metblog pool.

If you must try one now, you can download the Metro’s PDF version. Print out page 19 of today’s version, and you’ll get the puzzle.

Don’t you guys read my posts? Ever?
