Spam comment post gone

If you’ve checked the site earilier today you might have seen a post about a local realtor spamming us. I took it down after recieving a comment from Richard at Urban Vancouver [uv] mentioning that I should probably talk directly to the fellow first. I’ll go easier on him the first time, but if it persists then I’ll be angry.

I’ve sent him an email that basically said, “Hey maybe you don’t realize how annoying it is to be spammed but now that you do please stop doing it.”

If he persists then we’ll take more public action. As it stands let him alone, but if he’s doing this on other blogs I do hope he stops.

I noticed he also set up a blog at Urban Vancouver and peppered it with his ads, ignoring the terms and conditions — especially “The editors will unpublish (i.e. remove from the website) outright commercial ads (e.g. buy my widget) or press releases if they appear in any post. The editors may make exceptions if the post is suitably witty. :)” It vanished pretty quickly.

I’ve tried to live by the saying “Never assume malice when ignorance is just as likely.” So like you, I’m hoping this is just a case of clueless newbieism and not acute jerkosity. But I’ll be interested in hearing about the outcome of your conversation.
