Dodgeball Lives!

Dodgeball is awesome. Oh come on, you know it is. But you know what’s lame about dodgeball? The fact that adults don’t generally get to play. This didn’t bug me much at one time, but then I became an adult. Anger!

Fortunately, help is here. Some wonderful lunatics in East Van have formed the Vancouver Dodgeball League. I am 100% impressed. I’m also posting this item now because it’s timely: They’re starting their first season April 4th, and the registration deadline is Tuesday, March 28th. Sign up now!

Normally I’d be clever and post my usual Where/When/What summary, but you already know: it’s dodgeball, it’s fun! And more importantly, the VDL website is updated and informative. Just so you know, though, the league will be playing at David Thompson Secondary (1755 E 55th Ave) on Tuesday nights, and they claim to have some new, less hurty balls that are better than the classic red rubber ones.

I’d also like to say that I think dodgeball has gotten a bad reputation over the years. When I was in school, I was a pudgy, awkward, unathletic kid, and I loved dodgeball. Maybe that’s because I was small, but there was nothing more entertaining than that game. It sure beat wind sprints.
