After reading through what the One Book One Vancouver (OBOV) Celebrity Champions have picked for their favourites among the short-list of books, I predict the novel that will be John Vaillant’s The Golden Spruce.

As the strongly B.C.-centric novel it has the most passionate reviews from the Champions and seems to fit the profiles of past OBOV books. If not, it will be Patrick Lane’s There is a Season: A Memoir. But after the Oprah’s Book Club debacle over A Million Little Pieces, will the city pick for the city-wide book club be a drug addiction memoir? I’m a little skeptical.
