A little footie: season tickets to the Vancouver Whitecaps

After an unsatisfying season as a ticket holder to the Vancouver Canucks, where an 11 game ice pack cost me well over $400 [can], I decided to try watching another sport. Yes folks I decided to give local soccer, football to the rest of the world, a try and just today bought season tickets to the Vancouver Whitecaps [vw].

The season tickets cost about $168 for 14 games, which is $12 a game and about the cost of a movie at most local theatres.

Now obviously we’re comparing apples to oranges here. The Canucks are such a draw that they sell out nearly every game and there’s a waiting list to get the best season tickets. Plus NHL level hockey is always going to be a bigger draw than USL (United Soccer League) soccer, which is still sub-MLS (Major League Soccer) and obviously not on par with the European elite leagues.

So again it’s apples and oranges, but at these prices it’s a wonder more people aren’t peeling their fruit before eating.
