X-Men III: a filmed in Vancouver flick

I have my reservations about X-Men 3. Anyone who knows me knows I’m just stupid for X-Men, and as the sort of die-hard fanboy I’ll go see the film no matter what but without Bryan Singer helming the film and after reading the script I’m a bit worried. I’ve blogged about how I’m sad that Fox seems to be really anxious to crash and burn the film franchise [jks] and also about my reactions to the film script that was floating around the internet last year [jks] (warning spoilers in the second link).

I passed by the shoots for the movie a few times last summer, and no matter what my worries I’ll go see it on opening night. At least the trailers have looked good so far.

My gut reaction is to agree with you about Fox messing with the X-Men franchise by making spinoff movies.
But in this case, art is imitating art. Wolverine got his own comic book years ago after spinning off from the X-Men as Marvel Comics’ most popular character ever. The character’s charisma has translated well onto the big screen with a capable performance by Hugh Jackman. Besides, Wolverine is Canadian - and how many superheroes can we brag about up here? (Yes, I know about Captain Canuck - but I wrote, “brag about”).

Looking forward to the movie. Snikt!

This movie will be great, don’t worry. if you read the script and are still unhappy you have problems. I doubt you did though anyhow. Wolverine spinoff movies will be awesome.

    We have Alpha Flight.

And Wolverine spin-off movies awesome? Like the Elektra spin-off movie? That was something, maybe not awesome.

I have read the script of X3, at least a version of it and the version seems to match what has appeared in the trailers and previews. It might be fun, but they took what could have been a long running franchise and essentially burn it to the ground by the end.

There’s a possibility of continuing after this, but it’s not going to be the same X-Men. Which is disapointing because they have some really good characters which they developed well over the first two films.

Hey Jonathon, what about the whole of Alpha Flight? You don’t want to get Sasquatch mad.
