The best Vancouver realty toy ever

neighbourhoodwatch.gif

My friend Greg started out as a computer programmer with database experience. Then he got into realty. As part of that transition, he built the best toy for Vancouver realty stalking: Neighbourhood Watch.

In essence, Greg’s toy emails you current MLS listings. But the magic is in the flexibility. You set how often it mails you, from twice a week to once a month. You decide what regions it gives you listings for: your neighbourhood, your city, or a few select neighbourhoods. It’s a very clean snapshot of properties for sale and the prices (both asked and sold) your part of town. Or somebody else’s part of town.

Greg, by the way, has mostly moved out of realty sales and into mortgage brokerage, but the toy is still active.

My wife and I recently made use of Neighborhood Watch in our own real estate search. While we eventually turned to a realtor to show us around, it worked well for us when we were initially doing our research and checking out different properties.
It’s a really excellent tool that I would recommend to anyone, first-time buyer or seasoned investor.
