Are Vancouver’s bloggers political?

Hello, Metroblogging Vancouver! It’s good to be on board. I’m going to go out on a bit of a limb, here, since this is my very first post on this forum and it’s a little early to be making enemies.

So, um, I was just wondering… how many bloggers in Vancouver are Conservative Party supporters?

Just from reading various local blogger sites who post about politics and current events, I’d suspect that most of their Vancouver-based authors subscribe to centre-left (ie. Liberal/NDP) politics. This is probably a reflection of the fact that the party I support got decimated locally in the most recent federal election, to the point that our Prime Minister took the controversial decision to get David Emerson on board for Vancouver-Kingsway.

Is my perception wrong? Are bloggers politically representative of the general population? Does Vancouver’s online community lean one way or the other? Are my fellow Conservatives merely lying low while they build super-cool blog sites to persuade the masses to vote for Stephen? Has anyone ever done research on this?

If there are any Vancouver bloggers who have information or an opinion on this or who would just like to show off their political stripes for the record, I’d be curious to know.

Well, you’re not the only right-wing kook in town, as I would self-identify that way, too.

Unsurprisingly, Vancouver proper leans centre-left, like every other urban area in Canada outside Alberta.

Locally, the recently-dormant Peaktalk was probably the standard-bearer for right-leaning bloggery. The most prominent Vancouver blogs tend to be nerdy or civic-centric, and not primarily
    political.

Thanks for the response. Hopefully, Canada’s urban electorate (and their online representation) will start leaning the other way after a few more months of the sky not falling under a Harper-led government.
