Vancouver Folk Festival
I’m really looking forward to going to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival at Jericho Beach this weekend, now in its 29th year. I have attended the past two years because I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the festival, and listening to the ecclectic mix of musicians it seems to attract is especially good while lying in the grass. The current artist lineup can be found here, and the full shedule is available as a downloadable pdf.

I really admire the excellent job the organizers have done to create a event that is environmentally minded. A huge bike parking space is made available to attendees for free, and is monitored at all times by volunteers. All of the food sold by on-site vendors is served on reusable plates that purchasers pay a refundable deposit for, and helps reduce the amount of garbage generated. There are also taps available throughout the grounds for free water bottle refills.

I’m going, too. See y’all there. Any recommendations about who not to miss?
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be there with cowbells on.
