Very Berry Sunday
Further to John’s post [met]about local berry picking and getting outside of the Vancouver-proper city limits - we spent the morning at the Very Berry Country Fair held at the Fort Wine Co. [fwc]
The Fort Wine Co. is located about 5 minutes East of Fort Langley, follow the Fraser River past Aldor Acres, which is an awesome place to get your pumpkin come Halloween FYI [acres].
I admit that I have never checked out a local (Lower Mainland) winery before so today was as good a time as any. We tasted some cranberry and blueberry wines, played some mini golf and enjoyed the countryside. It wasn’t as grandiose a setup as some of those places in the Okanagan [ok] but it was still interesting to check out. My niece and nephew came along so they were the main focus - getting their faces painted, ballon animals, but resisting the urge to bounce around in the ‘Crazy Castle’.
With everything that was going on this weekend in the city, I’m glad we caught this event. Even though the whole ‘country’ thing ain’t really my style, I’ll still be on the lookout for events like this in the future.

Ha! That’s where we were for the frilly cheese and port. Hopefully you checked out the rest of the old touristy part of Langley, its pretty nice.
A friend of mine went to Langley Fine Arts school (a K-12 fine arts-centered school in the heart of Fort Langley) so I spent many lazy summer days cruisin’ around the ‘Fort’ as a child :) I think we have a time capsule burried somewhere on Church street…
