The flower lady
In my neighbourhood of Kitsilano along 8th Avenue, there is an elderly lady with a fabulous garden of flowers. At the end of her driveway she has a little booth from which she sells them for one dollar a bunch. Every summer I look forward to purchasing the stunning bouquets of flowers she makes, as I’m sure many others in my neighbourhood do. Early in the season they are mostly made of pink roses, and at this time of year they feature a wider variety of flowers (pictured above) that I unfortunately don’t know the names of.
To find her, look for the flowerstand on the northside of the street along 8th Avenue between Stephens and Trafalgar. It can be tricky to spot because the driveway is a bit overgrown. I suspect her flowers are a well-known fixture to the area that people in the neighbourhood hear about through word of mouth.

They’re all dahlias in that picture, I believe, though the red one on the far left could be something different.
Where did you find? I was looking today and may just possibly be blind (Im sure its from the lack of sleep)
Thanks Erin! As soon as I read your comment I thought “of course!”
Randy - I don’t know the exact address of the house. It’s somewhere in the middle between Trafalgar and Stephens on 8th.
Found It! Wow! Amazing bunch of flowers. Thanks for the great find. I forgot to get the address but it is half way between the block and is right at the front of the driveway. Alot of people there this evening!
What Randy said. I went and bought five bunches for the missus today. A charming, charming thing, and the flowers are gorgeous.
