The Victoria of California

Did you know that Sacramento is the capital of California? Yup, it’s not L.A. or San Diego but a town that nobody but the Govenator ever goes to. I looked it up in Wikipedia [wp]. So in a way it’s like the Victoria of California, except without the charming hangover from English colonial rule. Now while Victoria is yet to get a Metroblogging site Sacramento has just gotten one over at Metroblogging Sacramento [mbs].

Go there, and enjoy. I command it.

Sacramento is like Victoria the way a fast food hamburger is like half of a watercress tea sandwich.

    Yes.

I don’t have anything clever to add to that.

Actually, I think San Diego is really the Victoria of Southern California: it’s quainter, has an old town, is full of seniors, and is a couple hours away from the Vancouver of SoCal: Los Angeles.

Wow, thanks for the, uh, warm welcome, guys.

It’s actually a lovely town. I quite enjoyed Victoria last time I was there as well. Many people come here besides the governor - and as a matter of fact, our craptastic actor/governor doesn’t come here that often because he doesn’t get that he has a job to do - but that’s a California political rant that belongs elsewhere.

I suppose once Victoria gets enough engaged writers, it’ll get an MB as well. Our town with no one, it turns out, has a lot of someone-writers.

    Thanks again for the welcome!
