Matthew Good back to blogging
After a brief hiatus Matthew Good is back to blogging [mb] on a regular basis, and it’s good to have him back. Though his writing still deals with his main interest of geopolitics and human rights he’s recently opened himself up a bit more and blogged about events in his personal life.
Some of his posts ended up coal for the good ship “Vancouver Celeb Rumour Mill”, which was unfortunate because he has always seemed to me to be a fairly private person, who has taken the brave step of being open with his fans.
Anyway, it’s good to have one of my regular reads back up and active. Now all we need is a new album and some Vancouver show dates. Maybe another mini-acoustic tour. Well one can dream.

I didn’t know he was down again…(?) I blogged about one of his posts on here in July [mbv], you’re probably talking about the few days he took off while playing a handful of shows around the province? Unless it’s like a couple months/(years?) ago when he would do the blogging equivalent of ‘taking his ball and going home’ on all his readers when comments became too nasty.
He just pops on n off of the blogosphere like there’s no tomorrow eh:p
Here’s a question - why go to the blog of a musical entertainer for opinions on geopolitics? I realize the era of blogs has turned us all into experts, but I just thought it a little odd.
In fairness, though, I did check out his site. Darn it, he IS informed. How come he got the fame and the fans and the brains, and all I got was a sense of inadequacy and the sin of envy?
It all balances out in the end, I guess.
Matthew Good is intensely egotistical and self-absorbed, not to mention a hypocrite. One of the most outspoken critics of geopolitical motivations in the middle east, yet he has never set foot outside of Canada or Europe.
And who else has the audacity in the face of declining album sales and a loss of fan following to compare himself to Nick Drake, inferring that his work will not be appreciated for years to come because it is so far ahead of its time. Meh.
Humility and self-criticim seems beyond his capabilities, whatever talents he may have musically, and it shows in his more recent music. He’s lost the pulse. He is a man capable of only spitting out his own insecurities onto the world around him, when the real brine of his bitterness should be turned inwards to find some light there.
