Just in case you wanted to run away and join the circus…
Autumn is the time of year when many people, no longer of school age, get the urge to enroll in a class or workshop. I suppose the cause could be all those years of returning to school in September, that engrains a seasonal urge for learning and school supplies. Anyway, if you’re looking to sign up for a fun and interesting evening class this fall, why not try beginner aerial dance taught by local performer Kira Shaffer.
Details after the jump…
*Aerial Dance – Cradles for Beginner & Continuing Students at the Roundhouse Arts & Recreaton Centre, Dance Studio*
Explore the exhilaration of aerial dance using cradles, long loops of fabric suspended from the ceiling. Students will explore the principles of spinning and swinging on the equipment, partnering, as well as moving from dancing on the floor to dancing in the air. The class will focus on improvisational techniques, but instruction in basic poses and tumbles as well as some choreographed movement will be introduced. As cradles require less physical strength than some other aerial equipment, the class will accommodate students with varying levels of fitness and experience; however, be prepared for an intense upper body workout. Beginners welcome!
Mondays 7:30 – 9:30pm
September 18 – November 20
Course Fee: $147/9 sessions, $18/drop in*
*drop in after first week is for students with previous aerial experience or instructor permission
