Fantastic Four production starts in Vancouver

Production on Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer has started in our Hollywood North locale (didn’t you read the title of this post? Sorry I couldn’t think of a different lead), according to the Detroit News. Release is slated for June 15 next year. I was a fan of the comics back when I was in high school, though I have to admit the first movie impressed me far less than the film version of Spider-Man or its sequel.

Frankly, I think the title of the new FF movie stinks. The Silver Surfer is cool, but he’s hardly central to the whole FF mythos. Its sort of like making a Batman movie with Mr. Freeze or Poison Ivy as the main villain (oh, wait, they did that. Crap).

I do want this movie to succeed, though. Good luck to the cast and crew.

Hopefully, this film makes tons of money and helps keep Vancouver as the place where super-beings can feel comfortable demolishing buildings and terrorizing the populace while they try to smash each others’ brains out - all the while showcasing our wonderful local scenery.

Just keep the Human Torch away from Stanley Park.
