New Transit Centre
For over half a century Vancouver’s venerable fleet of trolly buses have been ending their shifts at the Oakridge Transit Centre which is located at 41st and Oak. Well over this past Labour Day weekend that is now coming to an end. The Oakridge Transit Centre (OTC) is now being retired. *Tear* *Weep*
Where are all those buses going to reside now at night? Well if any of you have taken the 98 B-Line Bus over the past year you’d probably have noticed that huge parking lot with trolly lines down by the Arthur Laing Bridge as you head over to Richmond.
Well the Marpole Transit Centre (MTC) is the new multi-million dollar facility to accomodate both the buses from the OTC as well as all the new fancy shmancy buses Translink has purchased. The OTC will still be used for a bit longer as a staging area or prep area for the 224 new low-floor electric buses.
I’m a little behind on this and there was apparently a re-location parade of all these buses that happened on Sept 2 at noon. It was actually led by one of the original 1948 buses (trolley). If anyone’s got some photos of it please post a comment! I’m sure others would love to see it.

Just so we’re clear, I was out of town when it happened, so I’m pointing to other transit enthusiasts who documented the parade.
