In Training

If you should see someone running around Vancouver these days — especially one braving continual drizzle like we saw yesterday morning! — chances are, she or he is training for one of the races of the Victoria Marathon or the Okanagan Marathon, both held on Sunday, October 8th. If not, he or she is training for the Dublin Marathon, Chicago Marathon, New York Marathon,… or perhaps just enjoy running!

Back in the beginning of June, Running Room stores (RR) across the city started another round of marathon clinics to wrap up in time for October races. Yesterday, we all peaked with a 32-kilometer run. We of the Broadway RR store clinic ran through Stanley Park, across the Lion’s Gate Bridge, about five kilometers into North Vancouver, and turned around at the North Shore RR store.

With something like six RR stores in the city all with 32-kilometer running routes, several times we crossed paths with runners from the other stores. It was fascinating to contemplate the criss-crossing paths of all the nutty/dedicated runners!
