Hidden Parks
Much like Rebecca there’s so many areas of Vancouver that I simply can’t say I’ve been everywhere. Some of the greatest joys are these hidden parks that exist all over the Vancouver Area.
One of which is Minoru Park which is in Richmond. I know Summer is over but I refuse to believe it. The park is still a beautiful place year round and during Spring/Summer is the home to numerous weddings due to the proximity of the Minoru Chapel. I suppose you could call it “Richmond’s Stanley Park”. Not based on size, but based on the fact that there’s an assortment of animals, a chapel, a pond, trails, lawn bowling, various flora and fauna.
It’s tucked away and most people not from Richmond probably don’t even know about it. On the Gilbert side of the park is Richmond General Hospital, Tennis Courts and the fire station. On the Granville side you can only see the Minoru Community Centre and running track. The Westminster Hwy side is predominately medical buildings and of course on the Minoru side it’s all apartments, the library and the distraction on the other side of the street. Richmond Centre Mall.
So next time you’re out there shopping, it’s actually not that far of a walk to check out this tucked away park. On another note they are building a set of new highrises on Minoru to replace the old apartments and part of the plan includes a far more prominant access walkway from Minoru Blvd right into the park.
So any other great “secret gardens” around town?

Probably the CRAB park
