USL Championships for our ‘Caps

Our local United Soccer League boys, the Vancouver Whitecaps are over in Rochester, NY for the USL Championships.

This is the first time the Whitecaps have reached the USL First Division Final since joining the league in 1997. They have reached the semifinals five times.

The White Caps were back East playing the Montreal Impact in a two game series to reach the final. The first game (last Sunday) was a 0-0 draw but later this week the Caps pulled out a 2-0 victory.

The Whitecaps advanced to the Championship Final in dramatic fashion, scoring twice late in extra time to defeat the host Montreal Impact 2-0! The Whitecaps will now play the Rochester Raging Rhinos in the Final on Saturday, September 30, in Rochester.[whitecapsfc]

You can catch all the action vs the Rochester Rhinos this Saturday at the Rio on Broadway (arguably THE place to for futbol action in town… aside from Swanguard)

Saturday September 30, 2006 @ 4:00pm - Location: 1660 East Broadway (click for more details)

Update: You can listen to the game on AM730 and I should not fail to mention the Vancouver women won the W-League crown earlier this season [cknw]
