Bears in the City
No, not Spirit Bears, but Black Bears. It’s time for them to retreat for the winter and enter hibernation. But with sunny days and lots of houses with yummy garbage cans full of discarded food, some Black Bears are thinking twice.
Tony Webb of the North Shore Black Bear Network… says, “The hibernation is triggered by two things, availability of food and temperature. And, if you have moderate temperaures and availability of food, they go into a walking hibernation.” [cknw]
If you do happen to spot a bear, call the hotline: (604) 990-BEAR. And if you live on the North Shore, find out more about bear-proofing your home on the North Shore Black Bear Network site.

Thanks for the heads-up. By the way, I think you’re a shoo-in for top poster on this site and possibly every MetroBlogging site period. Go for the gold!
I doubt I’m in any immediate danger downtown but who knows eh :p
I’d have to make up about 40 more posts in the next couple of days to beat those top poster guys in Seattle and DC - they’re waayyy out front.
