U.F.O.M.P. rocks out
What the hell does U.F.O.M.P.stand for?
The Unstoppable Force of Musical Power, of course. One of Vancouver’s rocking-est bands is playing at the Workless Party at the Capri Hall at 20th and Fraser this Saturday, 8:30 pm Cover’s $4 with a costume, $9 as you are. If you like the Clash, Public Enemy, Manu Chao or any kind of music that’s good to drink beer and wail to, you’ve gotta get out to this show. Check out some samples of their music on their Myspace site here.
Before anyone accuses me of spoon-feeding them a press release, here’s my full disclosure: I’ve seen two U.F.O.M.P. shows at the Anza club and they rocked the house both times.
I do know the singer and front man of U.F.O.M.P. and as such, I get the scoop on all the latest gigs and band news - like the fact that they’ve just recorded their new CD, Impact (those songs on their site are a few from the CD). Congrats to the band on a job well done - it sounds awesome. I suspect that very soon, they’ll be signed with a major label, rolling in the cash from I-Tunes and touring Japan… and I’ll be able to say I knew them back when.
By the way, they do have two more gigs coming up at the Backstage Lounge and Anza Club in case you miss Saturday. Check out their site for details.
