Food for Thought

Here at Metroblogging, we have a fancy little feature called “Suggest a Story“. Mind you the form says we’re not simply an event listing but when someone takes the time to submit something like this, I’m happy to share.

I actually didn’t get all the needed info (or as much info as I would have liked) off the bat so I contacted Alicia, one of the organizers and she sent along a shwack load of details and an event poster (a very lovely poster) about Food for Thought.

“Food for Thought” is a community food and wellness festival bringing together friends and families touched by Alzheimers… and of course, people who love to eat good food, all to benefit the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

This all takes place November 5th from 11:00 am to 4:00pm and admission is by donation. Here’s what you can look forward to:

Door prizes, Massage Therapy from WCCMT Students, Scrapbooking Ideas from Creative Memories, Filipino Cuisine from Mrs. Suave’s Restaurant (Collingwood, Kingsway), Indian Delicacies from Seema Khatib of the Summer MELA! festival at Deer Lake Park, and much more!

The event runs from 11am to 4pm, with over 15 food stalls to choose from, 3 musical acts, and 1 food demo from Shaw TV’s Spicy Steve (Spicy Steve rocks)

Food, crafts, local celebrity appearances, food, music, benefiting charity, door prizes, did I mention food?

This is the inaugeral festival and they’re hoping to expand into many other communities in the future. They are still looking for performers, sponsors for Grand Prizes for the Raffle/Auction, and always volunteers.

The official site, www.foodforthoughtevent.com is always being updated so check there for more info or email info@foodforthoughtevent.com. It all takes place at St. Francis de Sales - School Hall 6656 Balmoral St, Burnaby, BC (close to Sperling & Kingsway) - map
