The intense rainfall is caused by the Pineapple Express, a subtropical jet stream that blows humid air from the Pacific Ocean to the region. In some areas, storm clouds have dumped up to 350 millimetres of rain since Thursday. [CTV]

There are over 200,000 people without power in Surrey, Langley, Burnaby, Maple Ridge… and the list goes on, check BCHydro’s site for updated information. BC Ferries have canceled all sailings and many streets in all areas are closed. Winds up to 120km/hour are keeping those on the Island indoors and on alert.
