Boiling Water - Day 3

Now that New West and cities to the East (Surrey, Tri-Cities etc) have been given the all-clear, those in Vancouver, Burnaby and on the North Shore are still boiling their lovely gritty brown tap water on this the third day of the water advisory.

It is the single largest water advisory in Canadian history, and has led to widespread bottled water shortages and even a lack of coffee in the nation’s caffeine capital.

Couple things to mention:

- Grocery stores aren’t the only places in town that sell water. Little corner stores have a heavy supply.

- You still shouldn’t be brushing your teeth with the water or drinking it but seriously, you CAN wash your hands. We were out Friday night and 3 women in the ladies room with me got right out of the stall, headed to the paper towels and left. Um, I’d rather take my chances with the tap water + soap then uh… that. That’s just wrong.

For updates, keep your eyes on the GVRD website, they have news feeds from around the region and there’s also a couple articles on there about companies and organizations’ efforts to supply the public with bottled water, how nice.
