Cheapie Sunday – Totems to Turquoise

Totems to Turquoise – Art & Jewellery Exhibit
$10 – 12pm – 4pm
@ Vancouver Museum 1100 Chestnut Street

This exhibit has been on for quite some time and will come to an end in Vancouver in March. Don’t be like me and the Bodyworlds 3 Exhibit at Science World where procrastination lead to me not being able to see it before it left. This is an exhibit that contains over 500 native art pieces in various forms including jewellery created by native artists from both the Northwest and the Southwest.

The pieces come from such tribes as the Haida, Coast Salish, Nisga’a, and Nuxalk from the Northwest and the Apache, Domingo, Navajo and Taos from the Southwest.

It’s very interesting to see the various culture and stories behind each piece as well as witness the contrasting differences in styles as well as unique bond and similarity at the same time.

What’s special about this weekend at the exhibit is that there will be an artist interaction period. From 12-4pm Alvin Adkins will be in house demonstrating and discussing his carved print pieces.

Admission is $10 and you can purchase the tickets online in advance here.
