Dine Out Vancouver Meal #1: Aurora Bistro

Every Year Tourism Vancouver puts on Dine Out Vancouver [tv] which provides an oppertunity for locals and tourists alike to try some of Vancouver’s best resturants at a reasonable price. The event runs from January 19th through to February 4th. Last night I went with my girlfriend Lydia to Aurora Bistro [ab].

Aurora Bistro is a small place tucked away beside a comic book store at the start of Main Street. It’s the sort of place that I’d never think of going since it’s trendy and upscale. It was the first resturant on Lydia’s list of must eats for DOV, so it was our first resturant. One of the $25 per person places it’s worth every penny.

The portions aren’t huge, but they were enough to fill me up. You can see the set menu on line [tv] cauliflower soup, cornish game hen and the crème brulee were my selections for the evening. The soup was excellent as was the cornish game hen. I quite liked the potatos with the hen, and the sauce that it came in was very nice. The crème brulee was nice too, though the spicy blood orange flavour was not my favorite.

So yeah, obviously I’m not a foodie writer. I lack the adjectives required to make this shit sound awesome. So instead if you want a better review of the Aurora Bistro’s Dine Out Vancouver meal head over to My Dinner Table [mdt].
