Beer! Music! Velodrome!

The Burnaby Six Day is gonna be great. And it starts Monday night. It will feature some of the fastest cyclists on this continent competing in Burnaby’s astoundingly cool velodrome. There will be live music, and there will be beer. Admission is five bucks. You’re going, right?

Six day races have a storied history in cycling, and not just in Europe. Alas, in North America we more or less forgot about this mad sport sometime in the 1930s.

As you might expect, a six-day race happens over six days, and features several teams of two riders each competing in a variety of events, the most impressive of which is the completely mad Madison.

Enough said. Check out the site for the complete schedule and details. The action is fast, frantic, and two tons of fun.

Sorry for the OT comment, but your last post was locked.

I’ll be on the CBC show with you, and fighting for front row if we have a choice ;-)
I’m going to try to get to a Raptors game while in TO. I’d recommend the CN Tower (even though it’s more than $20 now), and if you like the sites there’s old and new City Hall, the Distillery district, the subway naturally, ROM and Science Center.
