I've only been once; we flew in a private plane from Boundary Bay to land, eat pie, and take off again.

This is despite the fact that as I sit here at work, I have planes on approach to Chilliwack airport flying over my head. I could be sitting at a counter in 5 minutes eating pie, but in the 6 years I've worked here I've never gone. It's a habit my waistline could not afford.

But I think part of the "taste" of the pies comes from the tradition of flying in for it. It makes for an excuse as to what those with their own planes can do with them. I work with over 1000 people, most of whom are Chilliwack natives unlike me, and I don't know of anyone that drives over to the airport for pie.

That said, I guess it would make for a good excuse for a drive out into the valley. If you find someone with a car and go, Rebecca, I expect you to at least wave to me as you go by.

Here's a link to my review of the famous pie, which I first heard about when eavesdropping on the Skytrain:

And I always thought pies went to the Double R Cafe in Bend, Washington to "go to die"

Lydia and I went shortly after the original Metblogging post on this, and were very disapointed. It was standard pie, nothing special at all about it. There were more varieties than your standard White Spot, but they weren't that great.
