You never know what you’ve got until you miss it.

Vancouver, as the crow flies

After spending two weeks in beautiful . . . exciting . . . sunny . . . oily cowy Edmonton, and three more days in oily cowy Lubbock TX, flying back into Vancouver last night and walking to work this morning once again in my favourite city was literally a breath of fresh air.

In addition to the beautiful view, the mild summer weather, and the obvious lack of bovine or petroleum particles in the air, even some of the stranger things elicited some retroactive homesickness:

  • The mess of buses trapped behind a cab in the bus lane on Seymour Street
  • The Santa Claus looking 24 Hours guy who says “Good morning” to every single person who walks by
  • The unique perfumy aroma of the combimnation of fresh flowers and urine which wafts up the stairs of the Granville St SkyTrain station
  • At any rate, I’m back in town, at least for a good long while this time.
