More Guu’d News

Stuffed Animal Shelter
My lovely bride and I went out to the Aberdeen Centre for Daiso (thus amusing but largely irrelevant photo) and Japanese food, as The Straight had said very nice things about Sushikan.

Well, you can’t believe the Straight. But stochastic dining is fun! And I found a new Guu.

You see, the beloved Sushikan is no longer there. The space (tucked down a back alley of the mall, more or less) has been taken over by a Guu. It’s so new it’s not even on Guu’s website yet.

As Matt pointed out a year ago, the current Guus in Vancouver are too busy to serve you (hint: make reservations). This one, with its out-of-the-way niche in an entirely different municipality, shows no current signs of excessive busyness, and it serves Milky Cocktail with Yuzu, which is a delicious way to get girl-drink-drunk.

Also, the staff was super-chipper, maybe because they’re not so over-worked.

Otherwise, it’s a lot like the other Guus: creative, tasty, and fun.

Where: Aberdeen Centre: unit 2709, 4151 Hazelbridge Way, Richmond
Why: same Guu’d food, less crowding. Less garlic, too.
How Much: reasonable-ish. Izakaya plates (smaller than entree sized) for $4-10. $30-40 will feed two.

Oh no, we were planning to go there next week. So did Sushikan move or just close up and go back to Japan?

I can’t say for sure, but Sushikan appears to have left no forwarding address.
