Ikea Parking

Today I decided to pick up a few things from Ikea in Richmond. There’s just something about cheap build-it-yourself furniture that really satisfies that need to accomplish something on a weekend.

Compared to the newer Coquitlam location, there’s quite a bit less parking at the Richmond location especially when no one uses the secondary lot on the far side of the building (bet you probably didn’t even realize there was another squeezed over there.)

I tend to just take whatever parking spot is open since I figure it’s faster to just park and walk to the entrance than it is to fight for a spot near the store, especially if I’m not buying anything large like a Billy bookcase.

Many stores already have the family / expectant mother’s parking spots marked out closer to the entrance. However today upon leaving Ikea I saw something completely different. Right next to the “Family Parking Only” spots…

Spots reserved for Hybrid Vehicles.

That’s definitely the first time I’ve seen that at any store. I must say that’s a nice way to reward drivers of hybrid vehicles. I wonder if it’ll catch on with other retailers and businesses.
